SCHOOL NEWS

SPRING BREAK AND LATE START REMINDERS  As a reminder, our spring break is March 23 to March 30, 2026.  Classes resume on Tuesday, March 31st with a regular schedule for the day.  As another reminder, Wednesday, April 1st is a late start.  

ASSESSMENT-ALTERNATE SCHEDULES-APRIL 14, 15 & 16   State Assessment season is coming in April, parents please mark your calendars! Due to testing requirements and staff needed to proctor and monitor each assessment, we do not have school for students who are not involved in testing and when testing is complete each day, students are dismissed and should leave campus. Here is the schedule:

  • Tuesday, April 14- CMAS ELA Test for 7th & 8th Grade

     

    • 8:30 am -1:30 pm (no school lunch provided–please bring sack lunch)

    • NO SCHOOL for Students in High School Grades 9-12

       

  • Wednesday, April 15-SAT TEST for 11th Grade & CMAS Science Test for 8th Grade

    • 8:30 am -12:00 pm SAT

    • 8:30 am-12:30 pm CMAS 8 Science

    • NO SCHOOL for Students in 7th, 9th, 10th, & 12th Grade

       

  • Thursday, April 16- PSAT Test for 9th Grade & PSAT Test for 10th Grade

     

    • 8:30 am -12:00 pm

       

    • NO SCHOOL for Students in 7th, 8th, 12th Grades.

       

    • 11th Grade will be testing in the afternoon only.

       

  • Thursday, April 16-CMAS Science Test for 11th Grade

     

    • 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

       

    • 11th Grade students will test in the afternoon only

       

Also, please note – the ending times for these tests are approximate.  Each test has a specific testing window and depending on the time the class starts to test, students are required to remain in the testing room until the time is complete.  7th & 8th grade students will be testing CMAS Math during their ELA/MATH block on April 7, 8 & 9.  If you have any questions about our upcoming assessments, please contact Mrs. Porreco at mporreco@jajags.com.

STUDENT FEES: With the 4th quarter starting, now is a good time to check for any fees still on your student’s account.  Any refunds can be credited back to your card in-person with Mr. Melville in the main office.  Seniors, all fees will be due by May 8th to checkout.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES & EVENTS

ATTENTION SENIORS:  We congratulate you on your upcoming graduation---a very exciting milestone for you and your family!  On behalf of the Jefferson Academy Boosters Club, we would like to invite you to participate in the Boosters Scholarship Program. 

We encourage you to apply for this opportunity to help fund your future education.  This year we will be awarding two $1000.00 scholarships. 

 Eligibility criteria:

·   Currently a Senior graduating from Jefferson Academy Secondary School in 2026.

·   Carrying no less than a 2.5 GPA (unweighted).

·   Enrolling as a full-time student at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, vocational or technical school no later than the Fall term of 2026. Seniors, check your email for the application!  It arrived on March 21. 

STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

ATTENTION CLASS OF 2027 FAMILIES: Planning for senior year is underway!  If your student is taking college classes, due to the timing of Front Range registration, Ms. LeValley has begun meeting with students on their senior year schedules. In April, she will begin meeting with juniors not taking college classes. In addition to senior year schedules, she will be having general conversations about post-graduation plans. Parents are welcome to attend the meetings. Students will be the ones to schedule the meeting time.

Regarding Senior Seminar (a graduation requirement that all seniors take quarter 1), a packet of information has been emailed to each Junior with information on the career shadow as well as other course considerations. Please review this information with your student. 

DIGITAL HUMANITIES AND AI SUMMER OPPORTUNITY

Inspirit AI is a prestigious, 25-hour guided research program where middle and high school students design applied AI projects in digital responsibility and fairness under the mentorship of graduate researchers from Stanford and MIT. The application deadline is March 31, 2026.

JEFFCO PARENTS ENCOURAGING PARENTS (JPEP)

You are invited to join us for a day of learning, connection and inspiration at the Jeffco Parents Encouraging Parents (JPEP) Conference on Friday, April 24 at Bear Creek High School from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event is designed by parents for parents, guardians and caregivers of children receiving special education, 504, gifted & talented or twice-exceptional (2e – gifted with a disability) services. Jeffco PEP will feature engaging workshops, a keynote speaker, small group discussions, a resource fair and more. Breakfast and lunch are included, plus a coffee and tea service. Visit our website to learn more about the conference and register.

Note: Space is limited and registration does not guarantee admission to the conference. If multiple family members (e.g., spouses, partners) plan to attend, each person should register individually.

SPARKS 2026 REGISTRATION

Now open for Gifted Talented Students on an ALP. Here is the link for the catalogue. Please visit the Jeffco SPARKS webpage for more information about our SPARKS GT Enrichment Program, June 8th-12th, 2026 at Everitt Middle School.  Families can choose from a variety of stimulating courses in either morning or afternoon sessions (families may only choose 1 session – either AM or PM per student).   We will follow all prevailing Jeffco Schools health & safety guidelines. SPARKS is open to all Jeffco students on Advanced Learning Plans (ALP) or in a GT Center program, in 1st through 8th grade for the 2026-27 school year. 

  • Fees are $275 for each class/student (plus any relevant course materials fees).

  • Registration will reopen after the lottery until classes are full or registration closes on March

     

    31st.

     

    Class fees will be due by April 14! Any student with an unpaid balance will be removed from the registration list and will not be able to attend the program.

STUDENT SCHEDULES 2026-2027

To align with Warren Tech and Front Range Community College timelines, information has gone out to Warren Tech and Concurrent Enrollment students about the 2026-2027 school year class schedules and meetings have already started. All other current 8th - 11th grade students will get information about creating class schedules for next year in early April. Counselors meet with every student to create their class schedule.

YOUTH FOUNDERS LAB SUMMER ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM

The Young Founders Lab Summer Entrepreneurship Program is now accepting applications. During the program, students work with startup founders and MBA mentors while building their own venture or non-profit. Group program deadlines are coming up on April 15th. Students interested in business and entrepreneurship can apply here.

SPRING SPORTS FEES Fees for spring sports are available in the Parent Portal fee section.  Please reach out if you are not seeing your fees on your student’s account.

Junior High Boys Basketball Tryouts 

Who can participate: All male students who will be in the 7th or 8th grade next year at Jefferson Academy Secondary

Date: Monday, April 27 & Tuesday, April 28th

Time:  4:pm-5:30pm

Where: Jefferson Academy Secondary Main Gym

What: Mandatory sign up for any student wanting to try out for the junior high boys basketball team. The deadline to sign up is Monday, April 27th at 12:00pm. Registration will be closed at this time. You must fill out this form if you are planning on attending tryouts. 

Junior High Girls Volleyball Tryouts 

Who can participate: All female students who will be in the 7th or 8th grade next year at Jefferson Academy Secondary

Date: Wednesday, April 29 & Thursday, April 30th

Time:  4:pm-5:30pm

Where: Jefferson Academy Secondary Main Gym

What: Mandatory sign up for any student wanting to try out for the junior high girls volleyball team. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, April 29th at 12:00pm. Registration will be closed at this time. You must fill out this form if you are planning on attending tryouts. 

8th GRADE ATHLETIC PARENT/PLAYER MEETING: We will be hosting a virtual player/parent meeting for current 8th graders who are interested in playing sports in high school. SPRING SPORTS CONCESSIONS SIGN UP Earn money for your school sport, club and organization, even Junior High can participate, when you volunteer at the concession stand.  Slots are now available for the upcoming Spring sports season.  Not trained, adults can be trained at the next group training on 4/2.
