Yesterday, the varsity golf team showed just how strong this team really is. With only three players participating (most teams had four), the Jags roared across the course, instilling fear in the top five teams. After hitting 3rd overall earlier today, the boys finished in 5th place!
Leading the way for the Jags was freshman Teague Murrey. Teague flirted with first place throughout today and took fifth overall, only four strokes from first place. After finishing today, he is ranked as the 24th-best freshman not just in 2A...the whole state. What a way to finish the season, Teague!
Junior Ben Pederson played a solid tournament for the Jags and finished in 17th place. Ben scored three birdies today (9, 10, 16) to stay in striking distance. After a slow start to the season, Ben locked in mid-season and never let up. We're looking forward to seeing him as a senior.
Dual-athlete Dylan Bahrenburg has been the anchor for this year's team, and the senior left it all out on the course. Battling through a wrist injury, Dylan showed his true grit today, fighting through the pain and finishing in 66th. While this was not how he envisioned his season ending, his leadership throughout the season has been key to the team's success, especially over the past two days.
Overall, the Jags' season was one to remember. With the success of this year's team, we're very much looking forward to next season and lifting the 2A State trophy!
