SCHOOL NEWS

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL - AUGUST 18: On Monday, August 18, all students will attend a half day of school. Please note, there are NO First Period classes on the first day.  Students will attend their full schedule with shortened classes and will be dismissed at 11:30am (EARLY RELEASE DAY SCHEDULE).

SCHOOL DROP OFF/PICK UP PROCEDURES:  On regular schedule days (not late start days) students may be dropped off as early as 7:30a.m. (7:15 a.m. for days when First Period classes are held).  Students may remain on campus after school when they are waiting for an activity or practice to begin or have an appointment to meet with their teachers.  Students who are disruptive, destructive, or disrespectful will not be allowed to remain on campus outside of school hours.

SCHOOL TRAFFIC PATTERN REMINDERS:  Click HERE for the traffic pattern.  If you would like to bypass the parking lot for dropoff and pickup, families may park along the street where there is a bike lane and no construction closures.  Please do NOT use the parking lots of surrounding businesses as a meeting point (you could be ticketed).  Please follow the directions of the staff members in yellow vests outside directing traffic and observe all traffic laws.  Please practice patience in the first few days, understanding that we are all learning again.

  • Enter the parking lot ONLY at the four-way stop.  Do not use the entrance close to the front of the school.

  • Please drive along and line up using the perimeter of the ENTIRE parking lot.  This keeps our traffic from backing up onto 112th Ave.

  • We ask you to pull as far forward as you can (even past the front door or even past your student) when picking up or dropping off your student.  This will allow traffic to queue in our parking lot rather than on the street.

  • Refrain from speeding past other cars in line or driving through student parking in order to escape the traffic.  This endangers our students who walk as well as other cars who may be moving.

  • Students may be dropped off and picked up along any part of the sidewalk. They will be safe to walk a few more feet on the sidewalk to get to the front door.

ROAD CLOSURES NEAR THE CAMPUS:  Beginning August 4th through August 15th, W. 112th Ave/Uptown Ave will be closed between Old Wadsworth Blvd and Main Street for repairs to the railroad crossing.  If you are planning on attending our Open House on August 14th, please note the road closure.  You can access our campus entrance from Main and 113th (near the 7-Eleven).

JA REGISTRATION IS OPEN!   This process must be completed fully for each student who will be attending school this year and is separate from Jeffco Schools Annual Update.  Please visit our website at secondary.jajags.com and click on the Registration Icon. Once completed and submitted, you will receive a confirmation email.

STUDENT SCHEDULES ARE AVAILABLE NOW:  All student schedules will be visible on Infinite Campus.  Both parents and students have an IC login.  Schedule changes can be requested via email.  7th-9th grade students should email Ms. Adams (kadams@jajags.com) and 10th-12th grade students should email Ms. LeValley (alevalley@jajags.com).

JEFFCO’S ANNUAL UPDATE IS OPEN NOW:   All existing JA families are required to update or confirm their contact information and notification settings in the parent portal prior to paying fees and to receive all information provided by the school. Please note that when you log into the system it will ask you to complete “Registration”.  Confirming your information is critical so that we can contact you in the event your student experiences a health emergency while on campus.  This is also the only time during the school year when parents can make changes to your opt-out agreement and sign all Jeffco Agreements in the portal, so it is very important this step is completed.

COURSE FEES MAY BE PAID THROUGH INFINITE CAMPUS:  As part of the registration process, families may pay all of their course fees for the entire year or may elect to pay the course fees for the current semester or quarter.  All course fees are loaded into your Infinite Campus Parent Portal and may be paid online (after completing the Annual Update). Any fee that has OPT in the description is an optional fee!  Find your fees under the ‘More’ tab and use this guide to help you navigate the steps for paying fees online.

PURCHASING A PARKING PERMIT: Any student who will be parking on Campus for the 2025-2026 school year, must have a valid parking permit displayed on their car.  Permits are paid online through Infinite Campus and the parking form must be completed (both sides) and submitted to the main office during the first week of school.  Mr. Melville will issue parking permits at lunch during the week August 25th to the students who have completed the paperwork and paid.  Students parking in the lot without a valid permit are subject to parking warnings and fines.

WE ARE A BRING-YOUR-OWN-DEVICE SCHOOL:  All students are expected to bring an internet-enabled device with a keyboard to class each day. We recommend devices with an 11-inch or larger screen and a full-size keyboard.   Many teachers will use a combination approach to instruction in which both traditional paper-based and online activities are utilized.  Students will often use their devices during class to complete and submit their assignments.  For security purposes, we require students to register their device each year in order to access our filtered internet service.  We will provide time for students to register their devices the first week of school with our tech coordinator.

*If your student attended JA 6th grade last year, we have their Chromebook at the Secondary and you do not need to purchase a new device at this time (unless you choose to do so).  Parents or students can pick the devices up at our Open House on August 14th.

JA EMAIL ACCOUNTS FOR RISING 7TH GRADE STUDENTS:  If your student attended JA Elementary last year, their Elementary jajags account will be deleted on August 15th. Their new Secondary Google accounts are now active. Their new account is their full legal name @jajags.com. For example, John Smith would be john.smith@jajags.com. The password for the account is their last name capitalized and student id. For example, if John Smith has a student ID of 1234567 then his password is Smith1234567  Remove any spaces in names but leave hyphens. Students will set their own password after the initial login. 6th grade email accounts were sent this information on August 4th and the email contained directions to move any files students might want to keep. FAMILY AND COMMUNITY CONNECTION SURVEY:  We’d love your input! Please take a moment to complete this year’s Family and Community Connection Survey: www.jajags.com/forms/25-26-ja-family-community-connection-survey. This quick survey helps us learn more about your interests, availability for volunteer opportunities, family-owned businesses, and any potential needs. It’s an important tool to help us connect, support, and involve our JA families in meaningful ways throughout the year. Our Community Engagement Specialist, Tiffany Flores, will follow up if needed and help connect you with resources or opportunities based on your responses. Thank you for helping us build a strong and connected JA community!
